CEO - About Me

I'm Chaz, CEO of Smashed Ladder Apparel. I'm an autistic and disabled person who has faced significant challenges and had to fight to get back up each time. I've survived two suicide attempts caused by mental health struggles. I know what it's like to need a helping hand, and that's what I want to give back to the world. I want to help people in a sustainable way—and since everyone needs clothing, I hope this business is how I can do it.

What does Smashed Ladder Apparel mean to you?

It means a job I can manage from anywhere, financial security, pride, and purpose. I love helping where I can, and selling apparel while gifting 50% of profits to a fund that helps people is a dream worth fighting for.

Why give up 50% of profits?

Because a 50/50 split just feels right to me. I don't want to become wealthy and then help people—I want to help people while I achieve financial security.

What will The Smashed Ladder People's Fund do?

The fund will help anyone and everyone with no barriers, no hoops to jump through.

  • If you work two jobs but still struggle to afford a new cooker, I'd want to help.
  • If a homeless person needs a room for the night, food, or water, I'd want to help.
  • If a nurse is sleeping on the floor because she can't afford a bed alongside her monthly bills, I'd want to help.
  • If children can't afford school shoes, I'd want to help.
  • If families need a grocery shop to make it to the next payday, I'd want to help.
  • If a person is struggling with mental health and needs help cleaning their house, I'd want to help.
